I always notice this aunty selling cakes & tarts in her little push cart at a small alley along Jalan Yap Ah Loy (the last photo gives you an idea on how to get here). For those who usually wait for bus/taxi at a bus stop across the road, you can watch her sleeping (seated) when there is no customer especially in the morning.
For someone who don't really fancy sweet stuff, my curiosity makes me walked towards the cart (while waiting for bus to arrive) and got myself 3 pieces of different cake & tart from her.
She was happy that I snapped photos here & there

Everything looks so good...and they're so cheap! Love egg tarts! How's the swiss roll...compared to the egg cake from Sarawak that I gave you? Like the traditional Foochow mooncake festival biscuits?
ReplyDeleteThe egg cake or kuih bahulu is not as sweet as the swiss roll layered with sweet kaya. 'Jing So Gao' was a hit among us...fragrant and not too sweet.

What about Chow Kit road? Brickfields? Used to have banana leaf at Brickfields often.

I seldom or totally don't go to Chow Kit cos' no good food there. I heard of nice banana leaf rice in Brickfields and I may drop by there one fine day.
