JALAN JALAN CARI MAKAN - MUAR-MELAKA-SEREMBAN-KAJANG

090711 was a historical day for me ..... first time  food hunting from Muar to Kajang without using GPS but armed with printed google maps , useful highway + road signboard and own sense of direction...which also coincides with my mother's birthday and also not forgetting Bersih Rally in Kuala Lumpur.

We braved ourselves by driving from Kuala Lumpur in the middle of the night and had a good rest at Ayer Keroh highway before proceeded to Muar in the next morning. From time to time, we also asked for direction from passerby at the traffic light junction.

1ST STOP- MUAR

We reached Muar town at about 5am with dark gloomy sky and only few cars were seen on the road. 

For breakfast till lunch, we had:-

1) a plate of fragrant nasi lemak + curry chicken and a glass of ice 'kopi o' = RM5.50 (forgotten to  capture photo). 

2) set of chicken rice ball + roast chicken and a packet of normal chicken rice + roast chicken @ RM3 per packet.  Both tasted just normal.

3) Dim Sum ..prawns + century egg @ RM1.50 per plate...tasty and cheap



4) Teow chew rice kuih @ RM1 per piece... both were equivalent yummy

5) Seremban Baked BBQ Pork Bun (r) and BBQ char siew Bun (l) @ RM1 each
 flaky skin with burst out meaty fillings



6) Udang Merah Durian ...RM8.80 ...sweet and creamy





7) Black sesame soya bean milk  @ RM5.50 per bottle ... tasted quite similiar to the common 
soya bean milk 



8) Wantan Mee @ RM3.40 per bowl.... bland



9) Bought 3 boxes of Muar Otak-Otak... @ RM6 each

We were filled to the brim by the time we left Muar to Melaka when the sun was hot and sunny.

SATE KAJANG

Everyone knows that Kajang is well known for its satay and there are several stalls and shops selling this staple in this small town.

Restoran Malaysia Satay is one of the restaurant which we bumped into while searching for Hj Samuri satay. It was crowded during Sunday afternoon but we managed to share a table with a couple. From the menu displayed on the wall, we ordered 4 stick of duck meat, 4 stick chicken meat and 2 stick of beef meat which is accompanied with peanut sauce, slices of onion and 1 ketupat. Not forgetting cool sugar cane and chinese ice tea to quench our thirst.

Peanut sauce with a dollop of sambal to add spiceness...would prefer the sauce to be more thicker and more peanuts



Duck meat @ RM1.20 per stick, beef meat @ RM0.80 per stick & chicken meat @ RM0.60 per stick .. quite dry, not juicy at all and wasn't fragrant enough due to insuffient of fire from the heating element

Not feeling satisfied, we headed on to Sate Hj Samuri which is located about 5 mins walk from Restoran Malaysia. Only few tables was occupied during that time. But what draw our attention was Deer and Rabbit satay displayed on the menu. Unfortunately, deer meat was not available and we ended up having four sticks of rabbit meat + four sticks of beef meat.

...both meat was tender, juicy and well grilled
...thick peanut sauce + spicy sambal ..a winner!

BROGA HILL - AH FATT NASI AYAM & MEE

After a fruitful hike, it was almost 12 noon. On our way down, we passed by Ah Fatt Nasi Ayam and Mee located opposite Broga Police Station.

What captured our attention to have our lunch there was the layout of chicken rice stall i.e roasted chicken & duck, char siew and siew yok on 'hangers'.

The seller cum owner is an eldery man and had been operating this family business for 20 years. He highly recommended me to try Hong Kong noodles or wan tan mee evident by the number of customers who were enjoying this plate of noodles.

the noodles was springy and simply dressed in light + dark soya sauce with vegetables.

This decent lunch came to RM18.80 including three glass of drink.

BROGA SAK DATO TEMPLE IN SEMENYIH

There is a 'hidden' gem in Semenyih which is popular among many tourists and locals asking 4D numbers from La Tuk Kong in the temple. This 16 years old temple is surrounded by many beautiful statues depicting the many characters from Chinese customs and folklore and a beautiful garden at the top. The temple has formed a foundation known as Orchard of the Fruits of Kindness in 1992.
