ANOTHER DURIAN TREAT!

If you have read my previous blog on Durian Indulgence , I couldn't get enough of the king of all fruits that I revisited Sweet Chat and tried Durian Affinity which is certainly bigger in portion!

Same presentation in a long platter with 3 different types of dessert of my choice + a dollop of durian puree in each bowl

Bubur Cha Cha with Durian
Creamy coconut milk consisting of a medley of sweet potatoes, taro and sago + a scope of durian puree
...coconut milk not so fresh and without any hint of pandan leaves...
Durian Cendol
....king of fruits overpowered this bowl of concoction filled with coconut milk ...and I simply can't have enough of it...
Grass Jelly with Vanilla Ice Cream and Durian
When mix together the two dollops of icy cream + puree in a sea of coconut milk, scope a spoonful of this unique dessert with cut soft jelly, put it into your mouth and you'll be tantalized.

DURIAN INDULGENCE

I love king of fruits....DURIAN.....
I enjoy eating it (either fresh or processed) and love the aromatic smell and rich creamy taste.

After dinner and while lazying inside Berjaya Times Square, Sweet Chat caught our immediate attention.  We went to the outlet entrance, browsed at the menu and opted Durian Indulgence from one of the two durian samplers.

In a long shape platter with neat presentation was 3 kind of desserts made of king of fruits i.e. Durian Pancake, Durian Ice Cream and a Scone with durian cream.

I particularly like the cold Durian Pancake which was delectable and creamy wrapped by soft skin of pancake while the warm savory scone went well with the durian cream.

ROOM 18

Does this sound like a hotel room no.18? Well, it is actually one of the chain of restaurants operated under the wing of Tai Thong Resources Bhd. Room Eighteen is a chinese restaurant tucked inside Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur.

I've passed by this eatery many times but it's my first time having a simple dinner with a friend here.

2 glasses of Ice Jasmine Tea A bowl of rojak ..free appertizer

Rice with Roasted Duck+ Siew Yok + Char Siew This set of rice came together with a bowl of curry fish balls. The gravy/sauce was too sweet eventhough the three combo of meat was edible

Wantan Noodles + Prawns Dumpling + Char Siew

wantan noodles texture was bad ...not springy and sticky while the prawns & minced meat dumpling is acceptable

For the price that we paid i.e RM40++, we can get a similar meal at a cheaper price with better taste from the hawker stall.

SET MEAL AT RM7.90

For those who are short of money or want to spend within their budget on a decent set meal, fear no more! For a mere of RM8.70 (including taxes) only, you can get a complete meal from STATION KOPITIAM.

The meal consists of a big & generous portion of fried noodles/rice (make you full), a cup of ice lemon tea (quench your thirst) & 2 slices of water melon (dessert).

Ice Lemon Tea was really refreshing + sweet and juicy Watermelon

Fried Koay Teow Cantonese Style....slurp, slurp
OMG...the flavorful egg gravy complemented well with non oily koay teow

While eating, I thought this delish plate of noodle was whipped up by a chinese chef but I was wrong......look at picture below

PENANG FOOD IN PENANG VILLAGE

It was Ramadan month and the ambiance inside the Penang Village Restaurant, Berjaya Times Squre was quiet and empty when we arrived. The buffet spread (RM28++) lined up on the table was ready for muslim customers to buka puasa but I was not entice at all.

Not knowing what is the best seller in this outlet , the waiter recommended us to try their famous Penang Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang, Village Special Fried Rice and Durian Cendol. For drinks, it was Jasmine Hot Tea and Ice Lemon Tea.

VILLAGE SPECIAL FRIED RICE (RM13.90++)
accompanied with 1 fried prawn, 2 pieces of fried chicken meat, 1 fried egg, sambal prawns and a small bowl of acar

Presentation was good. Fried rice was flavorful and best eaten with sambal prawns. However, the fried chicken meat was quite hard.

PENANG NASI LEMAK WITH BEEF RENDANG (RM13.90++)
accompanied with curry beef rendang, a half boiled egg, 2 tamarind prawns, sambal prawns and acar

The rice was aromatic with the fragrant from the coconut milk. I like the curry gravy which was tasty and tender meat. The tamarind prawns was pretty hard and cool but edible.

ICE LEMON TEA (RM4.50++) & HOT JASMINE TEA (RM2.50++)

DURIAN CENDOL (RM8.50++)

A meal wouldn't complete without dessert. The cendul filled with durian paste and topped with a dollop of ice cream was a perfect combination.
