TEXAS CHICKEN

Finally, the talk in the town 'chicky meal'  has arrives in Malaysia with stores in Jalan Sultan Ismail, AEON Bukit Tinggi in Klang and Sri Gombak in  Batu Caves.

Flyers on their grand opening  were circulated to offices.
In conjunction with their opening on 02 May 2013, customers are given freebies on every purchase they made ranging from  cone of ice cream, nuggets and etc. This offer is valid until 16 June in Jalan Sultan Ismail store.

My virgin visit here and after perusing their colorful menu, I opted for kid's meal which consists of 1 sizable original fried chicken, mashed potatoes, ice milo and not forgetting 1 free ice cream for only RM5.30 nett. Definitely value for money.
Nicely fried to golden brown. The skin was really crunchy and crisp. A look at the meat, you'll know that it is fresh. Juicy yet tender even without the help of chilly sauce.

I will certainly come back again for this and other items in the menu. I heard their chocolate volcano and burgers are good too.

JOM... BREAK FAST WITH BOOF....delivery by Foodpanda

I was delighted to be invited again by foodpanda to attend to their recent  food review held in BOOF, ideally and strategically located in the Golden Triangle. To be exact, it is just after Pizza Hut  in Jalan Sultan Ismail/Bukit Bintang or opposite LOT 10.

Started in 1995, BOOF is a fast food  restaurant with over 50 branches in Iran and is now spreading its wings to Malaysia and other countries.  During this Ramadhan month, if you are tight with budget,  BOOF is offering you the option of break fast with their special set meal at just RM10 comprises of your choice of mains served with a malt beverage and fries. You just need to make your order by login into http://www.foodpanda.my/ without getting out from your comfort zone.

All of us were given a mini tour in the kitchen. The fun started when we got our hands 'dirty' (we wore gloves)  by making our own pizza and chicken burger after a demostration by Boof's outlet supervisor.

After having fun in the kitchen, it was time to break fast and enjoy our own hand made pizzas and burgers together with fried chickens, fries and soft drinks .

My friend and I finds the chicken burger indeed memorable. Unlike other burger chain, the chicken pattie here was juicy, moist yet fresh and complement well with warm + spongy soft bun. I like the mild flavor (less salt) crispy fried chicken and ate two pieces. As for the pizza, it was just ordinary.

T- BREAK CAFE

Coincide with the cafe name, every day a 50% discount is given on any purchase during tea break.  We got ourselves three pieces of cakes with different flavor and cut into three equal portion for the three of us. RM11.50 for decent desserts.

Carrot Cake
This cake is flavorful, moist and not too sweet.
Filled with crunchy pecans, grated carrots and frosted with delish cream cheese. Not forgetting strong smell of cinnamon.

Marble Cheese Cake
Its a feast made for both the eyes and the palate. Rich with fresh cream cheese, soft yet fluffy.

Chocolate Brownies
Firm on the outside but tad too dried inner. Top with generous amount of cut macadamia nuts and drizzled with icing sugar.

3 flavours of cake & a cup of hot G7 coffee...complete the day!

AFFORDABLE THAI SET LUNCH

The other day, my colleague and I was craving for Thai food.  We were sandwiched between two restaurant but ultimately we chose to have lunch at The Lodge Paradize which is just right behind our office building. Facing a swimming pool with ocean blueish water view does make our dining experience more relax especially duing this hot weather.

This restaurant offers weekly RM10 value lunch, set lunch and also a-la-carte. They also serve western food apart from Thai & local cuisine.

My colleague had Golden Fried Rice (from the weekly RM10 value lunch).
Look ordinary but actually it's very aromatic cos' the rice was fried using lots of curry leaves + curry powder and tasty too with loads of cut prawns, squids, chicken meat and green.
Fresh Orange Juice (RM7++)

I love trying everything and thus, I had a set of Tom Yam Noodle Set (RM18.90++).

A small portion of seafood tom yam soup consists of
3 fresh prawns, slices of squids, oyster mushrooms + cut of lemon grass. I like the soup with the right balance of sour and spiciness.

A platter of appetizer came in a triangle shape plate with two pieces each of fried prawn cocktail, fried otak otak and fried pandan chicken. What I love most is the fried pandan chicken which was well marinated, juicy and moist. As for the others, I find it acceptable but tad too oily.

Ice Red Rubbies for dessert...
it wasn't sweet nor too sweet but just good enough to clear my throat.

All prices excluding 10% Service Charge and 6% Government Tax  .

WHITE RAJAH BORNEO CAFE

When I started reading Suitaupui blog months ago, I become too addicted to his blog that I'll visit his blog every day to check out the delish and cheap food in Sibu, Sarawak.  All the colorful food photos with full description really enticed me and make me salivating!

I came across 'White Rajah' mentioned in his blog by another blogger who had dine there during her visit in Kuala Lumpur. Obviously, it was a joy for me to know Sarawak food is available in this restaurant next to Lot 10.

Batik framed menu with a touch of Borneo map

Laksa Sarawak
Served with bountiful of soft vermicillies + beansprout, shredded chicken meat + egg. Disappointed with the soup which was neither flavourful and tasty...even the sambal didn't help!
Foo Chow Mixed Bagels
Also known as Kompia, this soft biscut are baked using charcoal oven. I personally like the onion bagels which are chewy, fragrant and soft whereas the sesame flavour is just too plain.
Fire Baked Fish with Lady Finger
Pungent sambal and full with oomph...best!
Set 1 - Promo Dessert
The 'trio' came individually in sparkling ice cream glass. Instead of partaking each dessert separately, mix the warm coconut rice pudding + kambusi (warm yellow corns in coconut milk)  and vanilla ice cream and you'll get 'Vietnamese Cendol'..nice!

Although we were seated inside the air cond restaurant, we enjoyed eating and watching people walking ...lively view!

KAMPACHI - HOTEL EQ, KUALA LUMPUR

A contractor who had completed renovating our office wants to buy us lunch and he asked my recommendation on good Japanese food.  Due to time limit and distance, I chose Kampachi in Hotel Equatorial which is situated just right opposite of my office building.

This fine dining Japanese restaurant has won several awards and recognised as one of the finest restaurants in Asia for 2010/2011.

We settled for set lunch (complete with Rice, Miso Soup, Pickles & Fruits) and 2 side order which was delectable and sumptuous.

EBI TEMPURA
Good batter texture = fluffy and non greasy tempura skin

SUPER SCALLOPS FROM HOKKAIDO (RM68++)
Lightly pan fried in garlic butter, these 3 big size scallops was delicate and juicy. Layered on top is crispy seaweed sheet with a bed of flavourful greens garnished with slices of fried garlic
KAMPACHI BENTO (FOR HIM)
3 types of fish sashimi, Japanese steam egg, fried chicken breast, salad...nicely fit his tastebuds

SEAFOOD TEPPANYAKI (FOR HER)
2 scallops, juliennes of white squid, salmon, 1 big prawn and mixed fried bean sprouts ... she feel satiated

UNAGI AND SALMON SASHIMI SET (FOR MYSELF)
1 tasty grilled  unagi, 3 slices of fresh salmon, a bowl of lightly fried squid, a plate of fragrant stir fried mixed vegetables... still got space for a dessert

 Tempura Ice Cream
Tempura skin was thick. As though eating doughnut enveloped with a scoop of ice cream

VALUE FOR MONEY @ FISH MANHATTAN

Where is the best place to satisfy your tummy without burning a hole in your pocket and still enjoy value for money western food? My preference would be Fish Manhattan, a fine and reputable seafood restaurant with chain of outlets in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.

For a set meal of less than RM50, we opted for a starter and  2 main dishes which comes together with free 2 bowl of soup of day + 2 glasses of fruit mocktail.  In fact, I personally find that the portion served is sufficient for 3 person.

SOUP OF THE DAY AND DRINK
I could not have enough.... warm bowl of mushroom soup which was so refreshing and not too creamy!  The Tropical Breeze, a fruit mocktail was light and certainly help to quench our thirst.
STARTER - QUAD DELIGHTS
Line up in this platter are fried calamari + fried country mushrooms+ fried shrimps served with a bed of greens. Full of crunchiness with a little hint of residue!
MAIN DISH 1 - FISH AND CHIPSThis serving was huge...2 big pieces of fried dory fish accompanied with garden salad and fries. Fish meat was tender + moist and sweet due to its freshness....simply delish without dipping any sauce.
MAIN DISH 2 - BAKED DORY IN GARDEN HERBS + BOILED BROCCOLI AND CARROTS
Really amazing..1 whole big piece of dory fish!   Garden herbs sauce goes well with this main and complement the fluffy and soft garlic herb rice.

ESTANA CURRY HOUSE

This is my first post on Indian food....and more to come soon...

A colleague of mine dragged me to buy her a dinner in Estana Curry House located along Jalan Sultan Ismail, KL (saw row after Menara Genesis) or next to Hotel Istana. This restaurant has been operating business for many years. I used to patronised this eatery, usually after working hour (to gossip ^.^) with my boss and colleagues in my previous company.

That evening, I did the ordering...

2 glasses of ice teh tarik (kurang manis) @ RM1.60 each
totally refreshing and less sugar!

1 piece of roti canai telur bawang @ RM1.80
the roti canai was not fluffy and quiet dried. I requested for curry ayam+kambing which was superb, or else we couldn't finish the roti canai

Mee Goreng @ RM3.80
I dislike it.. ..the noodles was soggy ,overcooked + tasteless and without limau kasturi. Even after mixing with the lime juice, it still can't satisfy our tastetuds. We poured & mixed some curry gravy on the fried noodles and ola la la....plate totally cleaned up

We saw packets of nasi lemak on top of few tables. I grabbed a packet and it was warm. Although this whole packet of rice looks nice to eat but we were upset....the sambal was overspicy and tasteless. What we do? Again, we added few spoons of curry gravy to make it more palatable.
NASI LEMAK @ RM1.50

At the end of the meal, both of us concluded that if there is no good curry gravy, our table will be left with unfinished food except the drinks.

I did not expect the quality of food served here has dropped tremendously cos' previously with my ex boss and colleagues, we enjoyed having our cup of tea and dinner here, two or three times a week.
