BLOGGERS' GATHERING @ AH LYE CURRY FISH HEAD

This is the venue where all of us gathered for a dinner with the Sibu famous blogger i.e Suituapui (STP) aka Sir Arthur Wee.  Really appreciate the effort put by famous baker/cook i.e Quay Po Cooks  or Veronica who did all the necessary arrangement from headcount to booking of restaurant just by chatting in the Facebook.  Personally, I did not know these two icon blogger and other bloggers too but I am a regular reader  who at times leave my comment in their blog or a silent reader. And it was STP who invited me to join this event.

Apart from the sumptuous food (this is the main reason foodie get-together), I also have the opportunity to taste awesome desserts prepared by the expert bakers (in my next post).

I did not drive to this restaurant cos' I am always blur and confuse with the roads outside  the Klang Valley (unless I have a good navigator with me).  Luckily, Abby, a new blogger (we got to know each other fm FB) volunteered to pick me up at a meeting point in KL. With her hubby driving the car and using GPS, after several wrong turns, we finally reached the destination. Quite deep inside Subang Jaya residential area.

Our dinner kicked off with dishes pre booked by QPC. 

Bountiful food!

Fried Tumeric Squid
 fresh squid rings cooked with fragrant tumeric & curry leaves

Tamarind Prawns
big in size, succulent & juicy..but the soya tamarind sauce tad too sweet & diluted

Curry Fish Head
came in a big piping hot claypot, the aromatic curry smell filled the air. Thick gravy with loads of cut fish head, ladies finger & etc.

Salted Chicken
at first it doesn't look tantalizing..but it certainly was after a bite! infused with chinese herbs i.e Tong Kwai (my fave), each pieces of the chicken meat absorbed the herbal concoction! 

Egg Foo Yong
simple dish fried with fresh prawns and onion rings...yummy

Mini Lor Bak
a popular dish in Penang ... minced pork marinated with 5 spice powder & etc rolled with beancurd skin!

Stir Fried Belacan Kangkung
crunchy greens..flavorful and full of wok hei

RESTORAN MAKANAN LAUT JETI

Our main intention was to have seafood lunch in Port Klang but some how or rather, we missed few turning points and hence, we just drive on and ended up in Kuala Selangor.

That day weather was mild hot which is tolerable. My eyes immediately set for the restaurant with bright yellow signboard depicting Restoran Makanan Laut Jeti. This is one of the famous seafood restaurant which I had patronised few times in the past year.

I chose a table over looking sea view, simply to enjoy a  soothing breeze while having  comfy lunch.

With two plate of white rice and a glass of cool herbal drink each, we started our indulgence with the following dishes.



Stir Fried Kangkung (water convolvulus) Belacan (RM6)
Fried with dried prawns, it brings out the natural sweetness in this dish. Coupled with belacan + sambal chilies, it was packed with spiciness and crunchiness. However, it was a tad too salty.



Crabs with Salted Egg Yolk (RM30)
The presence of curry leaves, smashed salted egg yolk and bird chilies added more fragrant  to this platter of fresh crustacean. Worth trying!



Nyonya Style Squid (RM10)
Came in a hot plate layered with a banana leaf ,  not only the ring squids retain its juiciness but the flavorful sauce (with a balance of sourish + sweetness) complete this beautiful dish

Stir Fried Bamboo Clams - Kam Heong style (RM8)
Bamboo clams was chewy and fresh but the overly salty sauce immediately killed our tastebuds.

Steamed Mantis Prawns with light soya sauce (RM12)
Juices from the fresh prawns gives more sweetness to the light soya sauce garnished with julienne ginger.
