AN EVENING WITH DATUK CHEF WAN - Cooking Demo & Berbuka Puasa

After the interview session, Chef Wan taught us how to make Peranakan Kerabu Mee Hoon which is one of the recipe from Best Wan series.

All the ingredients was readily cut and prepared before we arrived. Thus, there is no boiling or frying involve but only mixing up everything in a big bowl.

Can you imagine how happy I was watching my idol chef talking, joking and making us laugh while cooking and also able to taste his food? I also took the opportunity asking him questions which he answered without any hesitant. It was a precious and unforgettable moment!

Gerald had been staying here for seven years with his Malaysian wife, totally dislike durian due to the stinky smell. However, I managed to convince him to partake this dessert and immediately he fell in love with it....who say Mat Salleh don't like DURIAN!!!

AN EVENING WITH DATUK CHEF WAN - BEST WAN

A household name in Malaysia, Redzuawan bin Ismail, better known as Chef Wan, has been featured in various cooking programs on television, delighting audiences with his wit and humor (which I love most) while demonstrating his cooking prowess.

Chef Wan is an accountant turned celebrity chef with more than 20 years of experience in the industry. He is the ‘Food Ambassador of Malaysia’, representing Malaysia in various worldwide gourmet events, world expos and tourism exhibitions. With his extensive knowledge of Malaysian cuisine, Chef Wan has been invited to perform demonstrations and talks in different parts of the world such as China, Germany and Europe. He is also a well known author, food critics and also actor. In fact, he was conferred a Datukship during Federal Territory's Day celebration this year.

Chef Wan philosophy ' I believe that food is one way to make people happy. I also believe that food can unite people from all walks of life and cultures. When we sit together and eat, we promote better understanding and harmony'.

Being a loyal fan of Chef Wan since small , I will never miss his tv cooking show. I assure you that all his recipes are easy to follow plus the ingredients he uses are available here.

I feel honoured for being given a chance to interview and berbuka puasa with this forever young looking celebrity chef in his beautiful home in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. (thanks to Alice George Commucation for the invitation). No doubt he is already 52 years old but he is still full of energy (talking & joking non stop) and also a down to earth person. He is what you see on the TV and also at home. You'll definitely feel comfortable talking, joking, cooking and eating with him and his mum who is also a joker... wish I was his neighbour((*.^))

An AFC (Asian Food Channel) production, Best Wan showcase 10 episodes and 3 specials hours of Chef Wan and his most popular Asian dishes with a tribute to Merdeka Day. A devilish mix of stunning recipes and cooking demonstration filmed at the AFC's penthouse kitchen in Singapore. Our favourite chef will also share with you on the fundamental skills in cooking using wonderful world of spices, history and origin of Malaysian local food ex nasi bungkus and etc. So, don't miss it!

Best Wan Premire was aired on 17 August 2010 at 9pm in AFC.
