TEA BOX CAFE IN NILAI

This is my virgin trip to Nilai and first time having dinner in Tea Box Cafe serving Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia food.  The set up outside the cafe was simple with breezy wind while the inner was kind of dim and dark.  So, definitely I chose to have my meal outside the cafe.



Even though the ambiance is inviting but the service is quite poor.  We asked for the menu thrice from two different server and it took 30 minutes before it was given to us. During that time, only one couple was having their dinner!   As usual, I wanted to order food with 'unfamiliar name' but all the waiter/ess can't explain to us detail of the dishes and have to refer to their main cook. Also, they don't know what is the best seller in the restaurant. This is so unacceptable, right? 

Luckily, all the food that we 'simply' order was awesome and cheap too. Save our day!



Cendol Jawa (RM3.50)
Using evaporated milk, this icy colorful dessert is filled with cendol, strips of jackfruit, soft red beans and black jelly. Quite sweet but acceptable after the ice cubes melts.

Ayam Penyet (RM7)
With a plate of white rice, it really goes well  with the blazing hot, tender + aromatic deep fried chicken. Mix it together with pungent sambal and  crunchy tempeh + fried salted fish for more ommph!

Tom Yam Chiang Mai (RM10)
When this arrive on my table, I was full of awe and couldn't get my eyes away  from the red smacking crab and prawns (big smile) and lala and ring squids! Not only the seafood are fresh but the soup made of coconut milk, lemon grass + etc was so tantalizing.

If I know the food here is so good (minus the poor service), I would not cancel order on Nasi Ambeng Udang... but just like the saying goes, Belum cuba belum tahu, lepas cuba hari hari mahu (lol)!


This cafe is located behind Majlis Perbandaran Nilai. If you don't know how to get there, just ask people for direction. As for us, we chanced upon this cafe while driving aimlessly in the town!

SATAY JAWA

One evening while driving leisurely in Kampung Pandan Dalam, I passed by this shop and saw lots of people sitting with food lying on top of their tables waiting to breaking fast or 'buasa puasa' as it was holy month of Ramadan.

To unveil my curiosity on the type of food the stall is selling, I stop and alighted from my car. The first thing that caught my attention was the sign board depicting Selera Asli Masakan Jawa & Satay Kambing.

During my holiday in Bandung, I had tasted satay kambing which was tender, juicy yet full of aroma. I noticed that most of the tables are filled with plates of satay. Since it was my main intention to try the satay there and still have doubt on the taste, for a start I order five sticks only .

Within 10 minutes, a plate of mutton satay arrived on my table. I like the tasty dipping sauce made of dark & light soya sauce, blended red chilies, pounded peanuts with slices of big onions and cucumber. The mutton meat was tastless and quite hard, thus have difficulty to chew. Strongly not recommended.

Disappointed over the satay (with left over of 2 sticks), our eyes turned to the stall which sells rice and dishes. Again, feeling 'doubt', we opted for a small portion of white rice, a piece of curry chicken and ulam. Amazingly, the gravy was absolutely thick enough and delicious. Not forgetting the crunchy greens.

KRIS DAYANTI'S CHARITY LIVE PERFORMANCE IN KL

My company donated x amount of cash to aid the victims of earthquake disaster in West Sumatera and in return received 10 exclusive invitation to Kris Dayanti's Dinner and Performance in Borneo Baruk Club, KL on 23 October 2009.

With 10 tickets, I gave away 2 tickets to my bosses (my other colleagues couldn't attend) and the remaining tickets was given to my friends who was excited when I invited them to join me to the performance. But sadly, two of them can't make it on that nite.

It was raining like cats and dogs on Friday evening. Both me and a friend (our office is nearby BBC) reached the venue at 715pm and the rest of them arrived at almost 8pm . Upon arriving at the VIP entrance, I was asked to endorse my signature in the guest book and was escorted to our seats which was third row from the stage. All of us felt proud and comfortable seated in a long leather sofa while being served with fruit punch by the waiter. While sipping the juice and chit chatting, a tray of sweet and savoury appetizers arrived on our table. This was followed by a tray of fried finger food.

As the night grew 'younger', the standing crowd gets bigger and it was 830pm only. Each of them paid RM50 to stand and watch Kris Dayanti! We considered ourselves damn lucky cos' got comfortable seat, drink and food ....all for free!

took place on 22/10/09...isn't it sad to hear this? But this beautiful and vibrant singer kept her performance energetic with more songs and also dangdut with Siti Nurhaliza!!!
