We stumbled upon Meng Kee, one of the many restaurants in Jalan Alor, after our plan to have dinner in Restoran Wong Ah Wah didn't come true since it was closed on every Monday. Ample of tables available as it was only 630 pm but by the time we finished our meal 45 minutes later, it was packed and crowded.
Grilled Ikan Pari/Stringray (RM15) All time favourite. Dried on the surface and the meat was soft and moist. Goes very well with the sourish + spicy fresh chilies sambal. |
Stir Fried Escargot with Chilies (RM15) Not only shells are big but juicy meat loaded with fragrant sauce filled with fine cut ginger, red chilies and garlic. |
They say Wong Ah Wah is over-rated. Not a fan of most things at Jalan Alor (used to frequent as I always stayed at Bukit Bintang)...especially cooked by Myamarese or Banglas. Not as nice as years ago - loved it then, not anymore.I think the ikan bakar I had in Penang a lot nicer...
ReplyDeleteI personally find that Meng Kee is much better than WAW in terms of pricing and food quality. Penang food is a food heaven ma... can't compare with KL!
ReplyDeleteLooks good.. esp the porridge.. tomorrow i am going to boil some with salted eggs.. .
ReplyDeleteI do like eating plain porridge with salted eggs and other side dishes.
