RESTORAN ONG KEE CHICKEN RICE, IPOH

I have not been eating Ipoh Chicken Rice for more than 10 years. Reason is they only sell steamed chicken with sight of blood...yucks!  But, my recent visit to Restoran Ong Kee has totally changed my perception and tastebuds on this staple.

Getting to the eatery is easy but looking for a space to park your car is terrible especially on weekends or public holiday. This area is a hit among tourist who'll come here just for the famous chicken rice, soya bean milk, salted chicken/duck and other local delicacies.

We arrived there at almost 2pm and the restaurant was flocked with patrons enjoying their lunch. We got our table quite fast and settled down with their only best seller.

a plate of steamed chicken
when this dish arrive, I was happy to see the meat was totally cooked up to my liking.
meat was firm and smooth with skin melts in the mouth infused by the aromatic sesame + garlic oil! would be better if eat it with chili sauce instead of cut bird chilies.

+

 a portion of blanched beansprout
you only can find  plumpy and juicy beansprout in Ipoh. garnished with cut red chilies and spring onions with a dash of flavourful soya sauce.

 +

a serving of braised chicken feet with black mushroom
mom asked for this order filled with lots of soft and tender simmered chicken feet and cut mushroom

+

a bowl of plain soup koay teow
slurppy noodles

+

2 plate of white plain rice
...no oily chicken rice is serve here...

This wonderful lunch cost us RM33 only! And I am looking forward for more Ipoh chicken rice...
