This pictures was taken few weeks ago on a 'very short' visit to Portugese Settlement in Ujong Pasir, Melaka. As you can see, the pretty girl in the pic is Suzana who hails from Barcelona, Spain. Being a Portugese Catholic, her visit to the settlement was to discover and learn more about the people and it's culture. She had been in Kuala Lumpur for one week business trip and had in fact purposely planned for this visit before flying off to Orlando on the same day via night flight.
Since both of us don't know much about Melaka (eventhough I'm a proud to say that I'm a Malaysian) and never been to Portugese Settlement, we took a taxi from Melaka Sentral which cost us RM25. It's quite expensive for a 10 minutes ride. While inside the taxi, the driver told us that tourist and local usually go there in the evening for its seafood and live band performance. OMG, we should come back in the evening! Due to Suzana tight schedule, we have to go ahead with our plan.
Upon arriving there, the weather was hot and sunny but it did not stop us from walking around and taking pictures of the settlement which was huge and clean. As we walked further inside, there was a big performing stage, cozy food court facing the sea, spacious car parks and few souvenir shop. Everything was rather quite but the people was friendly.
After 35 minutes tour, we were quite hungry and went around searching for food. Luckily, Restoran De Lisbon was opened for lunch. Upon recommendation, we ordered Baked Red Snapper, Stir Fried Spinach, Curry Chicken Kapitan and two fresh coconut. The food was okay only and total damaged was RM45. No photos was taken as we were busy attacking the food!
Eventhough this trip was 'too rush' but I truly enjoyed accompanying Suzana! Do come back to Malaysia and I'll guide you to The 'Pearl of The Orient' in Penang.
