OCTOPUS SUSHI & THAI RESTAURANT - KL FESTIVAL CITY

This is another bargain from Groupon which I purchased for RM48 for two pax (excluding drinks). Octopus Sushi & Thai is tucked inside KL Festival City, a  brand new mall  located at Jalan Genting Klang, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. With Parkson as its anchor tenant , you will never miss this shopping centre.

We were there for a dinner on a Friday night and chose to seat inside with air-cond instead of al fresco. Spacious, clean with ample of tables + seats.

Upon seated, a foreign waitress approached our table with a menu and showed us on what we can order which is limited but value for money.
For my fren...
set of chicken katsu  + a bowl of soba + salad + chawan mushi and salmon sashimi
My set consists of a bowl of ramen + fried tempura + salad + sashimi + chawan mushi
Smooth soba in a bowl of lightly miso soup, filled with a half boiled egg and garnished with shredded seaweed.  I particularly like the sashimi...fresh cut octopus, salmon + white fish. As for the tempura, it was fried to the crisp on the outer while retaining vege + prawns texture.
This bowl of steamed egg custard lacked of taste but came with generous amount of cut crab stick, mushroom and chicken cubes.

ANOTHER GROUPON DEAL

My boss purchased this deal and took all of us for lunch. 10 minutes walk from our office, we reached this eatery inside Tokyo Street, Pavillion KL.

For four pax, we are entitled each to a bowl of mushroom soup, a plate of Japanese fusin pasta (selection from this page of menu only) and free flow of hot/cold green tea.

Service was pretty fast with smiley face from the waiter.  Lunch crowd quickly built up as we were chatting and waiting for our food.

First arrived was hot mushroom soup. Tasted quite alright although it is quite diluted without any bites of mushroom.

Unagi & Egg (Wafu Sauce)
Came in a big round platter, my pasta was filled with five pieces of cut unagi and mashed fried egg with shredded seaweed. I like the sweet sauce which go very well with well done spaghetti. Add more black pepper, red paprika and sesame oil to enhance the flavour.

Chicken Cutlet and Egg

Topped with fried chicken cutlets and fried egg, the noodles fried with assorted mushrooms was tad watery. I took a piece of the fried chicken cutlet and find it tad dry and unfragrant. Well, my colleague couldn't finish all although she tried too!
Scallop and Asparagus

With 3 sizeable scallops, the noodles was stir fried with cut asparagus. I didn't try this but was told it smells fishy. Could be the scallops not fresh or unsuitable sauce is used to prepare this pasta.

Unagi and Tofu

Tasted similar with what I have except tofu instead of mashed fried egg.

For RM60 only, this place is worth trying.

BUFFET SHABU-SHABU IN NAGOMI

I love eating steam boat especially with wide arrays of fresh seafood. Having read about the super deal promotion in Nagomi Shabu Shabu, Menara Hap Seng with price tag @ RM32.80++ (adult) and RM18.80++ (child), I decided to check it out over a lunch date. I anticipated a big crowd as I had made reservation a week ahead but was glad only half of the restaurant was filled up by diners. Meaning, we can enjoy our food slowly without rushing to queue up for refill.

fresh and sizable seafood...
luv the 50 cents size scallop, juicy baby lobster, salmon fish head, fresh oyster
various types of greens...spoilt with choices
imported Australian fresh oysters.....my fave
imported slices of reddish lamb ....tender & sweet
fried baby losters and fish...so addictive
dessert... like the jelly with coconut milk
our pick for the day...can't wait to eat
each of us were allocated with a small pot of soup to cook the fresh seafood

steam boat is incomplete with these...
sauces for your soup base and dippings
imported live baby lobster in aquarium..
the chef highly recommended me to try this and he claimed it's sweet

this live crustacean trying to crawl out from my palate but you can't...

end result after 5 minutes in the hot boiling soup...ready to wallop!
I do agree with the chef statement.

In an hour, we ended our lunch with black sesame & vanilla flavour ice cream.

For info, this buffet exclude drinks. I ordered a small bottle of mineral water + a glass of ice cubes for RM5 without knowing they serve refillable green tea/ocha at RM3!

SOGO...JAPAN...

After a quick shopping treat in SOGO at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur, we decided to have Japanese lunch in Restoran Sogo located on the 6th floor.

From the outside, we saw the restaurant was empty and skeptical whether to have our lunch there or at other nearby eatery as  it gives us the impression that food might not be good.  Ultimately, we went in to give it a try on the food.

We were captivated by the beautiful interior layout, clean and wide seating capacity of this restaurant. From the wall to the table arrangement and even cutleries, every thing was very Japanese!
