This is another birthday dinner for a friend whose birthday falled in early December. We have chosen to celebrate in Shamelin BBQ Restaurant because the food was good and affordable after our first visit there early this year. Don't be fooled with the name of this restaurant cos' they don't serve Barbeque (BBQ) but only chu char or fried dishes, rice and noodles.
Below are the sumptuous and delectable spread for the twelve of us.
CLAYPOT TAUFU (RM30)
this bubbling hot claypot came with generous amount of cut fish maws, soft fried taufu/beancurd, assorted mushrooms and fresh green peas. the flavorful gravy had just the right consistency i.e not too much constarch.STIR FRIED MIXED VEGETABLES (RM20)
for a simple dish like this, it is quite pricey. however, the greens which still maintained its crunchiness after being 'processed' won our heart.SALTED & CHILLIES SQUID (RM40)
this was quickly snapped up... each slices of squid texture was tender and aromatic after being fried with acceptable amount of salt and red chillies.
SALTED EGG PRAWNS (RM60)
prawns was well coated and fragrantly fried with curry leaves but it was too salty for our liking.
MONGOLIAN CHICKEN (RM24)
slices of chicken was deep fried till crisps and succulent and blend well with curry gravy which was not too creamy .
STEAMED GOBY FISH WITH SOYA & GINGER SAUCE (RM32)
this whole fish still retain its refreshness after being steamed in light soya sauce and pounded ginger.
