CLAYPOT CHICKEN RICE @ HEUN KEE

My mom and I am are a fan of claypot chicken rice. We purposely make our way to Heun Kee after a day of window shopping.

This restaurant is situated near to Pudu market along Jalan Yew (under the highway). Amples of parking space under the overhead bridge is available in the evening.

At the entrance of the restaurant, you can see claypot rice stoves and charcoal are being used to cook this signature dish in order to churn out the aroma.

For both of us, we had a small size of claypot chicken rice (RM8) , a small bowl of pepper pork belly soup (RM8) and a glass of ice herbal tea (RM1).

The rice was well cooked together with marinated chicken, topped with slices of chinese sausages and a piece of steamed salted fish (in a small metal bowl). However, my mom commented that its not fragrant enough as we can't feel the presence of shredded ginger, garlic + sesame oil which I fully agreed.

Double thumbs up for the pepper pork belly soup! Tender and soft pork belly + chicken's leg + fragrant pepper!
Besides the staple which we had, you can opt for claypot waxed meats rice and other side dishes such as curry fish head, vinegar pig trotters, various types of soup and etc.
