PRE CHINESE NEW YEAR LUNCH

Yesterday (according to Solar calendar, 4th February 2010) marks the beginning of Chinese New Year or where the animal signs changes from 'Ox' to 'Tiger'. This date is usually used for Feng Shui or Paht Chee reading. But usually, most Chinese celebrate this auspicious day on 14 February following the Lunar calendar.

My boss (even though non-Chinese) is a firmed believer of chinese zodiac signs. He took all of us for a lunch in Restaurant Marco Polo, Wisma Lim Foo Yong, Kuala Lumpur.

I booked two tables few days in advance and made slight changes (minus porky stuff) in the set menu which is priced at RM888++ per table.

Salmon Yee Sang
" very dried and lack of fresh vegetables"

Braised Shark's Fin with Shredded Fresh Scallop and Crab Meat
"yummy"

Baked Tiger Prawns with Traditional Style
"though the prawns was fresh but can't smell the taste of the sauce "

Roasted Chicken
" chicken was crispy but should serve with plum and chili sauce"

Braised Whole Abalone with Mushroom and Dried Oyster
"the abalone was cooked to perfection ....simply irresistible"

Fried Rice
'cold and blant taste"

Steamed Double Pomfret with Superior Soya Sauce
"fresh and tasty"

The service was damn slow. Can u image we arrived at the restaurant 1pm and finished our meal at 3pm (excluding Braised Seafood Noodles + 2 type of dessert which we took away) Huh!

My boss and colleagues couldn't believe that such a well known restaurant (years ago) has gone down hill with its food quality and customer service. Overall, we were not happy with food & service cos' with the amount of money we paid for this lunch, we can go to other restaurant serving better food and service.
