PULAU KETAM is a small island located off the coast of Klang. Seafood is a natural wonder of this isle, and is renowned for fresh crabs, prawns and fish. It is indeed a seafood gourmet's paradise! When you are in the island, you will find yourself escape from air polutions, traffic jams, car parking problem etc cos' bicycle are the main transport.
Last Sunday morning, a group of us (6) met up in KL Sentral for a KTM train ride to Port Klang (RM4.30 each ticket). During the one hour ride, the train stops at every station and we enjoyed a nice trip through the Klang Valley. Upon arriving at the last KTM station, we took about 10 minutes walk to the Port Klang jetty for a highspeed ferry (RM7 per ticket) to Pulau Ketam. Its only a half hour ride (12 nautical miles) away from the hustle and bustle of Port Klang. Inside the ferry, you won't feel bored cos' you'll be entertained with non stop hokkien karaoke video/songs played throughout the entire journey.
Upon arriving at the island, we noted that now the island is much cleaner ...... no more stray dogs and rubbish along the road EXCEPT underneath the 'floating houses'.
After a full filing lunch, we walked around and along our way, we passed by schools, community hall, temples and etc.
We left the island at 530pm and reached Port Klang for our dinner excursion.......
"I was made to understand that each household have their own karaoke set as it is their main source of entertainment. You can hear the same song being played within the neighbourhood .... mandarin/hokkien song only....."
