A HEARTY LUNCH IN JOHOR BAHRU

The four of us were in JB town for a short get away. Not so familiar with the place there, we simply walked around looking for food and ended up in this shop which is located in the middle of the town....think it's called Jalan Wong Ah Fook nearby the police station.

We were attracted with Curry Asam Fish Head.  Not many people inside the coffee shop during that time which translates to faster service and eating comfortably.

Looking at the simple menu , we couldn't believe all dishes are tag with affordable prices which is similar when eating in KL. While waiting for our food to arrive, the owner's assistant came to our table and introduced himself in Penang Hokkien language. He told us all the food are prepared by Penang cook and this make us even happier cos' we had made the right choice to eat there.
Curry Assam Fish Head (RM26)
came in a hot claypot, this whole piece of snapper head was flooded with spicy+sourish coconut milk gravy, cut brinjals, ladies fingers and long bean.  not only the fish was fresh and meaty...the greens was crunchy too. we wipe cleaned the entire claypot.
Pig's Stomach Soup (RM10)
this is another delish dish not to be missed... aromatic black pepper and pieces of tender cut pig stomach was the real steal.  but we have to quenched ice water to reduce the 'pepperish' kick in our mouth.
Vinegar Pig's  Trotter (RM10)
a spoonful of the sweet+sourish soup ain't enough.  three main agents here ...cut fresh ginger, black vinegar and most importantly soft pig trotters with collagen won our heart.

Each of us have a plate of white rice to go with all the yummy dishes. It was a hearty and fulfilling lunch for all of us at RM53 only.
