VIETNAM HOUSE

If you are craving for authentic Vietnamese cuisine during your holiday in Genting Highlands, I reckon Vietnam House tucked inside Level 2 @ First World Plaza. Most of the workers and also the chef hails from Vietnam. So, don't  worry about the food quality as  it is personally prepared and whipped up by the Vietnamese chef.

What impressed me the most are the restaurant  colourful exterior and interior decoration and ladies servers dorned in 'Ao Dai' or Vietnamese traditional costume.
Bright lantern at the bridge entrance

Welcome to Vietnam House
On display...cute and adorable

Cheerful and colorful umbrella + hats

Fried Jack Fruit (RM3)
crispy and crunchy tidbit ..nice to nimble while waiting for your order to arrive

Mini Straw Vietnamese Hat.......drink menu
Vietnamese Coffee/Cà Phê Sua Nóng  (RM7.90++)
Served in a mini coffee maker and cover with a lid, it takes about 20 mins for all coffee drips into the cup.
This concoction of dark coffee and sweet condensed milk is exotic. Tasted quite bitter,  thick +overly sweet...add ice cubes to balance up the taste!

Lime Juice with Soda & Mint Leave (RM6.90++)
Freshly squeezed lime juice but too sweet for my liking

Fresh Vietnamese Spring Rolls /'Goi Cuon Thit Heo Nuong'(RM8.90++)
Wrapped in rice paper are juicy prawns, fresh mint leaves, rice vermicelli, julienned carrots and best eaten with the special dipping sauce made of crusted peanuts + hoisin sauce

Beef Noodle/Pho Bo  (RM18.90++)
This classic staple came in a big bowl with rich and nourishing  hot beef broth +flat rice  noodles. Drizzle or dip the tasty yet bouncy beef balls or slices of fresh beef meat in a special dipping sauce (fish, hoisin and hot chilly sauce) to  enjoy the intermingling of flavors and texture. I was totally in divine.

Vietnamese Side Salad (served together with Beef Noodles)
Eating traditional Vietnamese Beef Noodles isn't complete with this
plate of  greens  to give invigorating appeal and balance up the meal. Basil leaves (so pungent  to the extend that I asked for another plate), bean sprouts,red chilies and lime juice are the typical aromatic herbs.
Spare Ribs Soup With Carrot & Beet Root (RM8.90++)
Similar to the usual way I boiled soup at home. Simply healthy without any hint of MSG.
Deep Fried Quail/Chim Cut Chien Don with
 Fried Glutinuous Rice Cake/Banh Chung Chien (RM25.90++)
Quail meat: Fragrant + crispy on the outer layer and moist inside but the lime dipping sauce did not justify the overall taste. The savory sweet combination of banh chung chien is a good companion for the fried quail.
Mango Salad and Rice Cracker (RM14.90++)
Bright and bold flavors! Sweet, sour and spicy enough and goes well with slices of mango, carrot, chopped herbs (coriander+ mint leaves) , fresh prawn and squid with a layer of crispy cracker.

Bean Coco and Durian  (RM8.90++)
Icy-cold creamy dessert ! Mixtures of blended fresh coconut milk and durian puree with lots of soft red + kidney beans, sweet corn and nata de coco (which is chewy & translucent)

For those who love real Vietnamese coffee or tea, you can buy it from here.

This is the most heart warming and satisfying meal I ever had in Genting.
