BEST ASSAM PEDAS IN MELAKA SENTRAL

Don't judge a book by its cover? Wow, so oily one...was my first exclamation when this bowl of fish assam pedas was served on my table. It was my sister who recommended me to have lunch in this newly opened restaurant housed inside Melaka Sentral.

MJ Station specialises in serving authentic kampung style cooking and had occupied this shop lot which was previously tenanted by A & W. All the service staff are cladded in black attire with a warm welcoming smile.

I actually wanted to order Assam Pedas Ikan Pari (my fave) but it was not available. So, I opted for a set of Assam Pedas Ikan Kembong which was paired with a plate of white rice + salted egg + local greens @ RM4.50 nett only.

Since there was too much oil in the gravy, we scoped it away few times and then started our indulgence. The gravy was very authentic and full of kick... well balance of spiciness and sourish taste, infused by the fresh chilies and other pounded ingredients. Fish was fresh and tender.

We also ordered another set of rice for my mom and she love the fresh chilies sambal.

My sister....Nasi Goreng Kampung Full of 'wok hei' and aromatic ....whipped up by a Malay Chef!

Look at the bill...it's so cheap and delicious!

We will definitely make another trip here and try other food in the menu, not forgetting best Assam Pedas in Melaka.
