CARI MAKAN IN THE PEARL OF ORIENT WITH EATOUT & CRIZ LAI....Mee Udang & Mee Ketam

^^JAMU SELERA, JURU - MEE UDANG & MEE KETAM^^

We left St Anne's Church to continue our food journey. It was almost 12 noon, when we stepped into this restaurant which operates from a house. There were ample of seat & tables available and only two customers were seen busy eating.

Our order was 3 bowls of Mee Udang (RM5 each + 3 prawns) and 1 bowl of Mee Ketam (RM6 each + 1 1/2 flower crabs).

The soup was flavorful and blended well with all the spices and chilies. I ended eating 5 big prawns and 1 crabs...(my friend sacrificed 2 prawns and 1 crabs for me knowing that I'm crazy over seafood!).

Our complaint was the mee was not well cooked. Criz decided to unveil the truth by stepping into the kitchen and discovered that all the food have been pre-cooked i.e. mee, prawns, crabs and soup for the night crowd.

It is very common that when business is brisk, the food quality will run down and this is what we get... I'm referring to the 50% cooked mee:-)

Criz happily 'ta pau' 6 packets of noodles for his family but were disappointed with the prawns which turned out to be not fresh by the time they wanted to eat.

I would reckon you eat in the restaurant to get a hot piping bowl of Mee Udang/Ketam.

  1. Well... I won't say that the seafood were not fresh. they were indeed fresh when we had them. It was the way they packed it. They should have put the seafood into the noodles and not into the soup. By the time I went home, the seafood were spoiled by being overcooked in the piping hot soup. I'm surprised why the cook were not aware of this.

  2. Well, most of the Malay food operators will do this without considering the impact on the food quality.

  3. Agreed with Criz.... all seafood must not be overcooked. The taste and texture = gone with the wind/bye bye.
